Island Time - the MOVE

Well it's been 11 years here at Island Time (28 in SoFL altogether) but it's time to get out of Hurricane Alley aka Palm Beach and put some paint on a new canvas.

So Sali's Ark is going to be packed up and we're moving North!

Click on the house for original pictures.

I know what you're thinking....this doesn't look like Island Time at all...but then again, neither did my place when I bought it.  I think the Island Time spirit will live on but it will be in the basement and on the deck...after all Island Time is a state of mind, not just a destination!!

  Welcome to the Disaster Area

Hard hats on please

My wonderful friend John taking apart the gym.  I know he's thinking, didn't I just put this thing together???? I hope I can remember how we did it...it's going to be an expensive service call if I have to import John to help again.

Stay tuned for the Adventure!!  Okay it's been almost 2 months since I've updated this so my apologies that you've had to stay tuned for so long...you've been so patient too...NOT.  Well, the move was SO organized that you just KNOW that something had to happen to foul up my project plan for this...right?   Read on...

After I snapped the above pictures and the movers left...pandemonium broke out....I had let the dogs out of the office and they came out to an empyt house, their toys and beds were gone...every stick of furniture was gone too...Hunter found a rawhide chewie where the couch used to be, Baxter decided that he wanted it and a fight ensued...I separated the miscreants and then followed Baxter into the office to get the bone from him so there weren't any fights while I was trying to run errands....Baxter decided to freak out after I took the bone from him.  I spent the next 6 hours in the emergency room getting patched up...THANK GOD for wonderful neighbors!  I left a trail of blood all the way to Deana and Jason's house where Dara patched me up and Deana drove me to the hospital where Kat met us and they kept me company and from panicking.  The world was a little gray when I was at Deana's house and they were counting the holes in me and so when the doctors took the bandages off I could see that they evidently only counted the deep holes...!  20 puncture wounds and lacerations in my right hand and wrist and 12 in the left...nerve damage and still in physical therapy today...getting my flexibility back and now I can feel all the fingers in my left hand and the middle finger on the right hand is coming along slowly.   The next morning several of the World's Greatest Neighbors came over and helped clean the house, pack the truck, hook up the trailer and tried to talk me out of leaving that day...DeanaLeft early the next morning against all advice and drove to Valdosta...how much fun is it driving with both arms in soft casts from knuckles to elbows...thank goodness for Katherine who helped with everything including the drive up.  The next day we headed for Cumming and I closed on the house.  The following day Rick n Jim showed up about the same time the movers did, Mark and Keri came over and the unpacking began...Joan n Marty came over on Saturday and more unpacking was done.

Mary Ellen's friend Brian came over and saw I needed a fence so he called Mike (Better Decks & Fences Inc.) and Monday at 5 pm I was looking at a fully fenced in backyard...about .88 of an acre...the dogs went NUTS with all that room...at one point Hunters back legs were in front of his front legs he was galloping so fast.  About half of the backyard is wooded too so there's all sort of stuff for them to inspect and critters to track.

Frapping is non stop here at Island Time North     Dreyfus gets tired following me up and down stairs all the time!

Now that all the boxes are unpacked it's time to paint...one of the guestrooms was a green faux paint...it glowed...so that was the first room to be conquered:

Here it is after being taped and the primer started...where's the Tape Boy when you need him? See the glow?

Much mellower now!

The Dining Room

It's a bit dark tonight...having a fire because it's 43 outside.  Yes, that cord is to my laptop...sorry...
The former Electric Blue Room...yes it's still blue but so much softer and now known as The Beach Room It's not finished yet, as you can see...I painted all the furniture with the same color blue as the walls and then put a crackle glaze on and painted it white...the light blue shows through the cracks and looks neat...however I still need to put the protective coating on it and then put everything away and put some stuff up on the walls.
Okay...no covered porch anymore so the porch furniture is in the living room...no it's not going to stay this way...not sure what I'm going to do with it but this furniture will probably do down to the basement or up to the master deck and my current family furniture will go in this room when I get new couches. The office is a work in progress...I just got my desk and computer hooked up...no bookcases so all my books are still in boxes...it's a disaster area.

The Adventure continues as I get to each room...Sandi & Sherrie are coming to visit when I get home from Mexico so getting those two guestrooms done was imperative.  Pam will be joining us too so going to work on the 3rd guestroom tomorrow.  More guests coming for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years so more work will have to be done!  Little by little.  Next is the flooring...Lowe's came out to measure for wood floors to get rid of some of the carpet and new carpet for the stairs and my bedroom...since Brian graded the backyard it's all orange mud and the dogs have tracked it all over the the place...the offwhite carpets are now orange tinted so I'm testing out some clay colored carpet!  Hopefully this will all go in before Thanksgiving!!

It's a gorgeous Fall up here, I can't believe all the colors, every day that I think it can't get any more beautiful...the next day it is!

2008 - FINALLY - the new kitchen is done!!!

Cabinets set into place View from family room
What a mess! Looking good now with the new paint and granite counters in. Dream fridge...I get to clean nose prints every day now!
Just before backsplash was put in All done, Eric go the lighting in, Ted finished the cabinets and Dave got the backsplash done...Pablo took 3 days to paint it but it came out nicely. Finally product, it's going on Dave's website because it came out so nice.
