This USED TO BE my story!
Hi, my name is Baxter, aka The New Guy. No, I'm NOT fat...I'm a ROBUST124 lbs. Don't ask me what that means other than I get a lot of green beans...and I think the vet (Dr. Lynch) was laughing at me. He's a nice guy though so I'll let it slide this time. I LOST 7 pounds after that first weigh in!! Course Mom is taking all the credit for walking me and feeding me green beans. Hmmphhh!
| This is my BEFORE picture...I made Mom take it off the top of the page because I'm much better looking now that I'm in shape! I have A LOT more energy too, Mom says I'm a PUP again. |
I'm settling in here at Island Time pretty well, it's going to take some adjustments though. I have a new brother, Dreyfus (he gets pretty ticked off if you call him Doofus). I called him that one time as I went to steal his stuffed animal and he started snarling and jumped me! I learned my lesson...I can steal the toy and he'll just growl and then pout so Mom gives him another one...but man whatever you do...don't call him Doofus!

I also have another brother named Indy, he's the biggest cat I've ever seen and boy are his claws sharp! He's a TER-ROR-IST mom says. Well I let him know for certain that TERRORISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
He tried to swipe my nose with those claws a couple times and I really showed him who was boss. Now I just torment him by walking close to him...he hates that. We're all snuggled up on Mom's bed right now, Indy is on the other side of Mom from me and Dreyf although every once in awhile he looks over and hisses at me. Hey as long as he doesn't use those claws he can do whatever he wants. Mom was working on a web page for me when she fell asleep and Dreyf showed me how to work the laptop. It's not as easy with short nails...Mom had em clipped for me last week.

Here's a picture of Indy and Dreyfus, they snuggle every night, til I jump into the middle. Then Indy goes off and pouts....he always comes back though.
Another interesting thing that we do here, which I didn't do much at my other place, is walk. We walk almost every night about 4 or 5 miles depending on the weather. We walk further if it's cold out. Most times we walk with Aunt Katherine, she only walks Dreyfus because I outweigh her...come to think of it I outweigh Mom too but she always holds my leash and she's pretty good at going where I want to go. She DID say something about OH-bee-dience Training being in my near future but I'm a good dog, she's just ticked off that I dragged her over to see some really weird looking little dogs the other night.
Speaking of little dogs, I met my Aunt Karen on Monday and she's got a dustmop that she walks...cute little thing, smells like it's a dog but it's too small...probably a cat in disguise. It's a Yorky-something or another. Then there's Aunt Debbie, she has a Golden named Jessy who is my new cousin I'm told...hubba hubba, she's cute. Here's a picture of her when we had a sleepover party....
I've got a lot more relatives now, that's for sure. I met Aunt Kitt and Uncle Peter and the 2 legged cousins Alex and Andrew, nice kids. I have a 4 legged cousin there as well, Rosie. She's a Rescue dog too! She's really young and she's a pest, but she's cute so I put up with it but she always wants to kiss me....ICK cooties! Aunt Kitt bought us toys, BarkBars and Christmas dishes...Mom put those away though (til next Christmas) got to use the ones with the pawprint in the middle...they match the kitchen...GROAN.
We went for a walk with Aunt Kitt too, (get the recurring exercise theme going on here?) we met Leanne & Dave (foster parents for Golden Rescue of South Florida) and got to see some more cousins named Hobo, Sunny & Duncan. They were handsome too.
I fell in the pool on Saturday, how humiliating...the cat saw me too. Dreyfus wouldn't play with me and I was trying to get that dog in the pool to play....I pawed at him a couple times and he moved so when I tried to follow...splash. Darn that pool is cold. Mom said bad words again....I don't think she was happy to have to run out on the wet grass and get her pajamas wet....she wasn't quite sure how she was going to get me out of the pool cuz the cover was on so it wasn't like I could swim to the steps. I helped her a lot though...at one point though she almost fell in too so then I didn't help quite so much and she got me out. Hmmmm the pool cover disappeared right after that and now I can see where the steps are....it took so long to get me dry though that we missed going to the dog park because then it started to rain...Dreyf was ticked off that's for sure. In fact he was so grouchy that when I tried to steal his woobie he jumped me and we had to go a couple rounds to determine who the Alpha Dog of the house really was....Mom won. She got really inventive with her bad words this time...I think we're helping her...she sure gets a lot of practice.
I have email buddies now...one is Junie da lob buggie...whatever that is...she sure is cute though! Mom showed me a picture of her and WOW she's a slim trim little number...talks a little funny and she lives far away in some place called Nuuu Joisey but you can never have too many friends huh? And my most recent pen pal is Autumn McNamara, I think she's Irish...Her Mom was hassling her with the camera so she doesn't look that happy but she sure is sweet and pretty too!
You know...I could get used to this place!! Not bad at all....Kim says I'm an abused pupper though because Mom didn't have the blanket tucked around me...I'll keep that in mind for when it gets cold but today it's nice and about 73. Mom turned on the electric blanket for a nap yesterday and I shared it with her... it was a little chilly so it was nice to snuggle. Too hot for Dreyf though he stayed on the cooler side.
Here I am with my girlfriend Jessy, she's watching me be all manly and rip up my woobie! Boy was Mom mad when she came into her office and saw woobie guts all over the place! She just doesn't understand. She really wasn't happy when I dug it out of the trash the next day and shredded it some more...no sense of humor.
Sorry there aren't more pics, but I don't want to sit still long enough.
Check me out with my new bling-bling....yeah Mom said more bad words when I broke my tooth on the fence going after that pit bull next door...so I had to have a root canal and now I have a stainless steel fang...Mom's not too happy that I didn't use it on the bad people that burglarized the house last month though...hey, they were nice and knew where the cookies were.
I have a new little sister now, her name is Chess and she's a Foster Dog from Golden Rescue In Naples (G.R.I.N. Inc.). She was fat too but she's slimming down almost as fast as I did. She's really cute and sweet too...still a little chunky for my tastes and she's too young for Dreyf but one of these days she's going to be a fine looking little pupper! You can check her page out here.
It's been awhile since I've checked in but life at Island Time North is really good...we have lots of room to run around in, inside and outside...and we have new brothers since the last time I wrote...Hunter and Jake. Hunter has been with us about 4 years now and Jake over 2 years...these youngsters really keep me on my toes...I used to have to keep them away from the Old Guy Dreyfus as he gets a little cranky but he went to the Bridge last year and we were really sad to see him go. Jake is talented, he can jump 6 ft fences so I just shake my head and give up...he's too wild for me with those springs in his butt but he's also a lot of fun to play with.
Here I am being subjected to Hunter singing...pup can't carry tune at all! Taking time to smell the roses er ummm grass...and avoid having my picture taken...ooops didn't work this time! Here's my latest picture! I've been busy helping Mom, without Dreyfus around I need to step up and be the full time Alpha...that's a big responsibility!
